News & Show Results Welsh Springer Spaniel Club Specialty Shows Easter 2010. Duke, Ch Maesgwyn Duke of Marma wins Australian Bred in Show under both Megan Riese-Bassel and Susan Riese of Statesmans Kennels US on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday. Thank you to Cheryl Harding for handling Duke. D'arcy, Ch Plattwood Darcy is Veteran in Show under Megan Riese-Bassel and Saffi, Ch Laugharne Nordic Light is Open Neuter in Show, also under Megan Riese-Bassel. Saffi was handled by Cheryl Harding. Duke, Ch Maesgwyn Duke of Marma is chosen to appear in the Pedigree Dentastix commerical. You can see the commercial on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpwdAaCq0n8&feature=player_embedded - look for Duke at the end of the commercial. 16 January 2010 Duke, Ch Maesgwyn Duke of Marma is Australian Bred in Group under Mrs. Lyn Harwood at the Lang Lang PA & H Ass. show 24 September 2009 Duke, Ch Maesgwyn Duke of Marma wins Best of Breed at the Melbourne Royal Show from an entry of 10. The judge was Mr Luis Pinto Teixeira. Duke was handled by Carolyn McMaster and Kari Harding. 11 September 2009 Duke, Ch Maesgwyn Duke of Marma again wins Best of Breed at the Adelaide Royal Show from an entry of 17. (Judge was Mr G Jeavons, Canada). Duke was again handled by Cheryl and Kari Harding. Polly, Maesgwyn Light Olaugharne who lives at Laugharne Kennels in SA, was Res Bitch Challenge and Puppy of Breed at the Adelaide Royal Show. Polly was also in the five shortlisted for Puppy in Group. September 2008 Duke, Ch Maesgwyn Duke of Marma wins Best of Breed at the Adelaide Royal Show from an entry of 17. (Judge was Mr Sean Delmar, Ireland). Duke was handled by Cheryl Harding.
June 2008 Duke wins Best of Breed at the Rarer Gundog Club Open Show, handled by Carolyn McMaster under Ms Jayne Stewart (12 entries) and again at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Championship Show that afternoon, handled by Jan Irving under Judge Ms Sally Stasytis (14 entries). Thank you to Carolyn and Jan for handling Duke. Easter 2008 Buffy, Ch Maesgwyn Star Ruby wins Best in Show at the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of NSW Open Show, Easter 2008 (Judge was Janine Ford) from 50 entries.
At the same Show, Saffi, Laugharne Nordic is Veteran Bitch, D'arcy, Plattwood Darcy wins Veteran in Show and Duke is Intermediat Dog in Show. November 2007 Saturday, 3 November, Duke, Maesgwyn Duke of Marma gains his Championship title with two Best of Breed wins. The first was at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Show under Mr G Kostopoulos (Greece) from 17 entries. Duke was also Aust Bred in Show. Saffi, Ch Laugharne Nordic Light, Duke's grandmother was Bitch Challenge and Runner up Best of Breed. At the Victorian Gundog Club under Mrs A McCarry Carroll (Ireland) Duke was again Best of Breed from 17 entries. His mother Buffy, Ch Maesgwyn Star Ruby was Bitch Challenge and Runner up Best of Breed. Monday, 5 November at Victorian Women's Dog Club under Mrs J McGinnis (USA) Saffi was again Bitch Challenge. September 2007 Saffi, Ch Laugharne Nordic Light is Challenge Bitch at both the Adelaide and Royal Melbourne Shows. Duke, Maesgwyn Duke of Marma is Res Dog Challenge and Runner Up Best of Breed at his first Melbourne Royal Show. Genna, is now Ch Maesgwyn Sword Maiden - congratulations to Robyn & Phil Ellis of Tazlon Kennels.
November Melbourne Cup Weekend - Saffi, handled by Kari Harding, wins bitch challenge at 4 consecutive shows under international judges at the Melbourne Cup Weekend shows. Beth Marschall, Saffi's breeder from Laugharne Kennels came to stay and brough along three friends and two of her dogs, cH Laugharne Mitchell et (AI) and Laugharne Thunderstorm. It was a very hectic weekend with four shows over three days but it was a lot of fun. Following are the results:
